The Practice Manager is often the first point of contact for new enquiries. They ensure that every matter is triaged appropriately, that urgent matters are escalated promptly, and that clients are kept informed about the progress of their case.
Role descriptions
Each member of our team plays a distinct role in advancing your matter:
Principal Solicitor
Sets strategy for all matters. Appears in contested hearings and mediations. Makes key decisions about settlement offers and litigation tactics. Maintains direct client contact on complex matters. Responsible for overall quality of legal work across the practice.
Senior Associate
Manages files day to day. Drafts court documents including statements of claim, affidavits, and submissions. Briefs counsel. Attends directions hearings and interlocutory applications. Communicates directly with clients about case progress.
Associate / Junior Lawyer
Prepares evidence — medical records, financial documents, correspondence, solicitor file notes. Conducts legal research on specific points of succession law. Prepares chronologies and schedules. Supports senior lawyers at trial and mediation.
Practice Manager & Support
Handles initial enquiries and triage. Manages scheduling, billing, and client communication logistics. Ensures compliance with trust account and professional obligations. Coordinates with barristers, experts, and other third parties.
Experience in disputes
Our team's collective experience spans the full range of estate and probate disputes:
- Contested probate — challenges to and defence of grants of probate, including allegations of forgery, undue influence, lack of capacity, and want of knowledge and approval.
- Executor disputes — applications for removal of executors, proceedings to compel administration or distribution of an estate, and claims against executors for breach of duty.
- Family provision claims — claims for adequate provision under Chapter 3 of the Succession Act 2006 (NSW) and Part 4 of the Succession Act 1981 (QLD), including claims by adult children, spouses, and dependants.
- Elder financial abuse — matters involving misuse of enduring powers of attorney, NCAT/QCAT proceedings, and associated Supreme Court litigation to recover assets wrongfully taken from vulnerable older persons.
- Urgent protective applications — freezing orders, caveats over probate, interim administration orders, and other emergency relief to preserve estate assets pending determination of a dispute.
- Cross-jurisdictional matters — estates involving assets or parties in both NSW and Queensland, requiring coordinated proceedings in both states.
